The song is based on a gypsy song "Nas Balamo" composed by greek singer Dionysis Tsaknis and sang in spanish by Remedios Silva Pisa as "Naci en Alamo".

Emel Mathlouthi was born in Tunis but speaks for a whole middle western culture. She carries in her voice the suffer of the oppressed people as well as their hopes and aims. Her heart is her mouth spreading through the air the spirit of freedom and wishes of happiness. She is one of the most representative voices of this era.
