IPI names Eskinder Nega World Press Freedom Hero 2017

Ethiopia’s Eskinder Nega named IPI Press Freedom Hero

Ethiopian journalist and blogger Eskinder Nega, who has been imprisoned since 2011 after criticising his country’s abuse of anti-terror laws to silence the press, has been named the International Press Institute (IPI)’s 69th World Press Freedom Hero.

Afghan Journalists Safety Committee honoured as Free Media Pioneer.

IPI names Iran's Ahmad Zeidabadi World Press Freedom Hero

The International Press Institute (IPI) named as its 68th World Press Freedom Hero prominent Iranian journalist, academic, writer and political analyst Ahmad Zeidabadi, who has courageously fought for freedom of expression, human rights and democracy in his country despite continued persecution by authorities.

Mazen Darwish named IPI World Press Freedom Hero

The International Press Institute (IPI) has named Mazen Darwish its 67th World Press Freedom Hero. The prominent Syrian lawyer and human rights defender has advocated for media freedom in his country for more than 10 years, the last three from behind bars.
