english translation

I Netzahualcóyotl ask this:

Is it true one really lives on the earth?
Not forever on earth:
only a little while here.
Though it be jade it falls apart,
though it be gold it wears away,
though it be a quetzal feather it will wither.
Not forever on earth:
only a little while here.

- Netzahualcóyotl -
poet and king of Tezcoco 1402-1472

excellent point; we are visitor; some people think they not only own it but created it and have the right to blow it up...

yes, nothing lasts forever...and I agree, once again with ascenderrisesabove....it's sad that some people are actually planting 'seeds of suicides' without realizing it....

hey, I really love the 'stone' story in your earlier post :)

My attempt to pronounce this poet king's name may take forever- ;-)))) Love to learn historical thoughts- shows how people no matter from where or when pretty much have timeless, relevant, valuable ideas. Often by not taking an interest in world history/and current events we end up having to spend too much time re-inventing the wheel so to speak- and often repeat ancient mistakes etc.
I procrastinate here bad enough now- can't imagine how bad I would if life here was forever.

very true, unfortunate that too often we forget it though... if we all remembered it, each day, then think of the difference it could make...
have a good day, oh, and thanks for your nice comments by the way!
:)
