Hamida Djandoubi was executed in 1977 by Guillotine, being the last person executed in the then European Community ....
France abolished the death penalty for all crimes in 1981.

United Kingdom retained the death penalty for high treason until 1998, year of the Abolition.

Albania was the latest country to ratify protocol 13 in abolishing the death penalty for all crimes in early 2007.

With the exception of Russia and Latvia, all other Council of Europe members that have not ratified protocol 13 have already totally abolished the death penalty.

All European Countries abolished Death Penalty, except Belarus.
