25 de Abril

Freedom and life are earned by those alone who conquer them each day anew.
- Goethe -

Grândola Vila Morena

Grândola by Zeca Afonso (translation)
the song' signal to start the revolution that overthrew the regime.

Grândola, swarthy town
Land of brotherhood
'Tis the people who command the most
Inside of you, o city

Inside of you, o city
'Tis the people who command the most
Land of brotherhood
Grândola, swarthy town

On every corner, a friend
In every face, equality
Grândola, swarthy town
Land of brotherhood

Land of brotherhood
Grândola, swarthy town
In every face, equality
'Tis the people who command the most

In the shadow of an holm oak
That none now know its age
I swore to have as my companion
Grândola, your will

Grândola, your will
I swore to have as my companion
In the shadow of an holm oak
That none now know its age

Freedom !!!

just because today is our Freedom Day, to celebrate the Carnation Revolution of 1974, after 48 years of fascism, i decided to put here some things related with that day, including this famous poster, to remind we shall never give up of our dreams and ideals !!!

there is people all over the world who need us, our support, our voice to break the silence of injustice and oppression, our strength to keep the struggle alive.

not now, not tomorrow, one day we will Win !!!

it’s with tears and deep emotion i cry again

Liberdade Sempre !!! Freedom Always !!!

For a better world without Death Penalty !!!

Independent Film Channel, May 29
"At the Death House Door is an intimate look at the death penalty in the state of Texas through the eyes of the Rev. Carroll Pickett, who served 15 years as chaplain for the inmates of the infamous "Walls" prison unit in Huntsville. During Pickett's remarkable career, he witnessed 95 executions, including the world’s first lethal injection. After each execution, Pickett recorded an audiotape account of his trip to the death chamber. The film also focuses on the story of Carlos De Luna, whose execution troubled Pickett more than any other. Pickett firmly believes De Luna was innocent, and the film tracks the investigative efforts of a team of Chicago Tribune reporters who turned up evidence that strongly suggests he was."

MLK in my heart

I'd like somebody to mention that day that Martin Luther King, Jr., tried to give his life serving others. I'd like for somebody to say that day that Martin Luther King, Jr., tried to love somebody. I want you to say that day that I tried to be right on the war question.
I want you to be able to say that day that I did try to feed the hungry. And I want you to be able to say that day that I did try

in my life to clothe those who were naked. I want you to say on that day that I did try in my life to visit those who were in prison. I want you to say that I tried to love and serve humanity.

Yes, if you want to say that I was a drum major, say that I was

a drum major for justice. Say that I was a drum major for peace. I was a drum major for righteousness. And all of the other shallow things will not matter.

- Martin Luther King -
from “The Drum Major Instinct”

today marks the 40th anniversary of Martin Luther King's assassination .... He lives in our hearts Forever !!!
