Portugal marks human rights milestone

This weekend, Portugal marks the 150th anniversary since the nation pioneered the abolition of the death penalty. 

Several initiatives will be held across the country this weekend as Portugal celebrates becoming the first sovereign nation in Europe to cease capital punishment and also one of the first in the world to do so.
