muito obrigada !!!!! thank you so much !!!!!
Today, July 1, we are commemorating
150 years of the Abolition of the Death Penalty in Portugal.
We have become the first sovereign nation in Europe to cease capital punishment and also one of the first in the world to do so.
The Abolition was made in stages:
for political crimes in 1852,
for all crimes, except the military, in July 1, 1867.
Portugal last execution took place in April 22, 1846 (by hanging).
